Men's Soccer Earns 3-0 Win At Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Northwood University men's soccer team earned a 3-0 win at Ohio Dominican University on Friday evening (October 2).

The Timberwolves are now tied for first with Saginaw Valley State in the GLIAC with a 5-1 conference record, 6-1 overall. The Panthers fall to 0-6-2 overall, 0-4 in the GLIAC.

NU continues the trend of striking first, with another early goal to get on the board under four minutes into the match. Sophomore James Vaughan (Bexhill, England / St. Richards) was responsible for Northwood's first goal, as he finished a deflection off a shot from James DeCosemo (Stokesley, England) at 3:35. The Timberwolves continued with an offensive threat, putting five more shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the first half.

Northwood continued with the pressure throughout the second half, netting a second goal at 61:39. On an NU corner kick, taken by Keaton Levock (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Chippewa Valley), the ODU defense accidently headed the ball into their own goal to put the Timberwolves ahead 2-0. Just over ten minutes later, senior Mayowa Olufeko (London, England / Welling) capitalized on another Panther error for his eighth goal of the season to seal the win for the Timberwolves.

For the match, DeCosemo finished with nine shots (five of which on goal). Northwood registered 19 shots to Ohio Dominican's nine, while NU also tallied six corner kicks to four for ODU.

The Timberwolves remain on the road for a match at Lake Erie College on Sunday (October 4) at 1 p.m.
