Men's Soccer Places Four on All-GLIAC Teams - Vaughan Named First Team All-GLIAC

MIDLAND, MICH. -  The Northwood University men's soccer team placed four members on the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Conference teams, which the league announced Thursday night (November 3).

James Vaughan earned First Team All-GLIAC honors as a Midfielder, while Josh Wates and Zachary Bakos both claimed Second Team honors at Defense and Midfielder respectfully. Goalkeeper Brendan Brown was named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention as well.

A junior from Bexhill, England, Vaughan has been a steady force for the Timberwolves all season long. Vaughan has started 16 games for Northwood this season and has six points on the year including four assists. Vaughan is also one of the captains and leaders of the team.

A freshman from Manchester, England, and also a captain for the team, Wates brings a steadfast force to the defensive side for the Timberwolves. Wates has started all 17 games for Northwood this season and is a huge reason why Northwood has allowed just 11 goals in 17 games this season and boast a 0.63 Goals Against Average.

Bakos, a junior from Linden, Michigan, has an impressive 17 points on the season which includes seven goals for the Timberwolves, two of which were game winning goals.

A key to the Timberwolves success and specifically the stifling defense was the goalkeeping by Brown, the freshman from Cambridge, England. Brown has had a memorable season including five shutouts to go along with his nine wins on the season.

Northwood currently stands at 11-3-3 Overall and finished GLIAC play at 8-3-3. The Timberwolves begin the GLIAC Tournament on Friday (November 4.)
