RECAP: Northwood men's soccer picks up its first win of the season Friday afternoon (September 10), defeating Lake Erie 2-0.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • After an uneventful start to the game, Northwood got on the board in the 25th minute. Andrew Simon picked up a loose ball off deflection from August Hunter and found the back of the net to give the Timberwolves a 1-0 lead.
  • The score remained that way through halftime. Neither team was able to put together much of an attack – Lake Erie held a 3-2 edge in shots at the break, while Northwood had two of the three corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Northwood doubled their lead in the 72nd minute. On the counter attack, Seamus Quinn took a feed from Chris Escalante and beat the keeper to make the score 2-0.
  • That proved to be the last goal of the contest, giving Northwood the win.
