Gjelaj Earns GMAC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

GMAC Athletes of the Week Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Senior goalkeeper Robert Gjelaj (Bruce Township, Mich.) has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. 

Gjelaj (Ju‧ly) earns the honors following his outstanding week in front of Northwood's goal. The keeper collected 12 saves over both matches versus Findlay (September 22) and Trevecca Nazarene (September 24) which amounted to a .923 save percentage. He currently leads the conference in save percentage (.813), saves (52), and saves per game (5.2).

Robert recorded his third clean sheet of the year with Northwood's 1-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene. The men's soccer team went 1-1 over the two matches with a 0-1 loss to Findlay.

Men's soccer is currently 4-2-4 overall and 3-2-1 in GMAC play. The team returns to action Saturday (October 1) for another conference clash with Walsh beginning at 2:30 PM at Dean Field in Midland, Mich.
