RECAP: The Northwood men's soccer team won their second straight game as they defeated #21, Walsh, at home, 4-2. Northwood gets their fifth win of the year passing their 2021 total. The Timberwolves had four different goal scorers in the contest.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- A very chippy game that saw nine totaled yellow cards handed out (Northwood – 6, Walsh – 3). Both teams also combined for 42 fouls in the game (Northwood – 22, Walsh – 20).
- Gjon Melakuqi had a career game, scoring one and assisting on two others. Melakuqi got the scoring started in the 6' as he took a pass from teammate Owen Turner, 1-0 NU.
- Melakuqi's first assist to Joseph Daulby allowed Daulby some room on the left post to bang one into the lower left of the net, 2-0 NU.
- Just before the half, yellow cards were issued to two Walsh members as well as another issued to Chase Clark.
- 39 seconds into the second half, Walsh would get their first goal to cut into the lead, 2-1 NU.
- Northwood would bounce back in the 58' with a beautiful goal by Amedeo Crovasce as he took the pass from Oliver Jarvis and rifled it into the top-left corner of the net, 3-1 NU.
- The 24 fouls and 6 yellow cards in the second half slowed things down as tempers flared.
- Walsh would bring the lead back to one in the 64' adding a goal, 3-2 NU.
- NU would put the game out of reach as Jarvis would score off an assist by Melakuqi in the 82', 4-2 NU.
- Northwood (5-2-4, 4-2-1) moves into fourth place in the GMAC standings, tying previously top-ranked Walsh.
