Men's Soccer Takes Down The Wildcats On The Road In Marquette To Start 2023

RECAP: The Northwood men's soccer team traveled to Marquette to open their 2023 season on Thursday (August 31). Luke Kalavitz and the Timberwolves would escape victorious following two second-half goals in the final 12 minutes of the match to win 4-2.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • A tightly contested first half between the two schools. Northern led with nine shots followed by NU's 7. This accounted for both having three shots on goal to finish the half.
  • Northwood applied pressure in the 21'[, a shot low center by Andrew Simon would be saved, but moments later junior Kalavitz put the Timberwolves out in front, 1-0 NU. Kalavitz's goal was the first of his career.

  • Chris Escalante would later break the tie off a pass from Patrick Hamilton in the 78', 3-2 NU.
  • Kalavitz would later put the game out of reach four minutes later in the 82', scoring his second for a brace and the second of his career, 4-2 NU. Hamilton would earn his second assist of the match on the goal.
