RECAP: The Northwood men's soccer team played rival SVSU on Thursday afternoon (September 7). The Timberwolves would be down for most of the match, but a late surge would give them a chance. Northwood would lose 3-2.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Early on the teams went back and forth, but the Cardinals would take the lead late in the first half, scoring in the 41', 0-1 SVSU.
  • SVSU outshot the Timberwolves 9-3 in the first half. Gjelaj was active during the first half, saving five shots on goal.
  • Six minutes into the second half a NU defensive breakdown gave SVSU another breakaway. The Cardinals capitalized putting them up 0-2 in the 52'.
  • Saginaw's offense would later take a 0-3 lead following a laser free kick over Northwood's line to the top left corner in the 67'.
  • Northwood eventually would get on the board in the 74'. An SVSU foul in the box gave NU a penalty kick. Oliver Jarvis would tack on his third goal of the season.
  • The Timberwolf surge began to set in. Northwood would have eight substitutions before they chipped away at the lead. In the 82' Jarvis would get his brace, beating the defense off an assist by Adrian Lekocaj for another goal inside the box, 2-3 SVSU.
  • SVSU held the lead to the very end, defeating NU 2-3.
