Men's Soccer Forces Draw Against Tiffin After Late Penalty

RECAP: The Northwood men's soccer team began their three-match homestand with a dramatic draw versus Tiffin on Wednesday (September 27). A late handball in the box by the Dragons gave the Timberwolves the ability to force the draw, 1-1.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Tiffin controlled possession for most of the first half, leading all offensive stats categories. The Dragons had a 10-4 lead on shots and 3-1 in corners going into the halftime break.
  • In the 27', the Dragons capitalized on some chaos in the box following a TU free kick. One of TU's attackers had a bobbled ball fall to his feet before scoring the first goal of the match.
  • Tiffin's control of the ball continued into the second half, outshooting the Timberwolves 10-3 in the second half with a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Northwood's defense bent but wouldn't break keeping the Dragons from adding to their lead in the second half. Their defense turned into offense for a split second as a handball in the box by a Tiffin defender in the 76' resulted in a penalty kick. Amedeo Crovasce would tie the match at one with a rocket to the back of the net.
  • Northwood held on to complete the draw over the last 14 minutes.
