Tennis Teams Earn Bids To NCAA Tournament

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's and women's tennis teams each earned bids to the NCAA Tournament Tuesday night (April 25).

There are eight regions in both tournaments, with two schools hosting events in each region. The teams that win each sub-regional will qualify for the round of 16, which will take place in Altamonte Springs, Florida May 10-13.

On the women's side, Northwood (20-2) is seeded second in the Midwest and will host the opening two rounds of the tournament. NU will open the event with a match against No. 7 seed Lewis (16-7). The winner of that match will play either No. 3 seed Drury (20-3) or No. 6 seed Missouri-St. Louis (14-2) in the second round. Those contests will be held at the Gerstacker Courts on the campus of Northwood University Monday-Tuesday (May 1-2). In the case of inclement weather, the matches will take place indoors at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

The men's team (10-10) is the No. 6 seed in the Midwest.  The Timberwolves will open up the tournament with a match against No. 3 seed Drury (18-3). The winner of that match will face either No. 2 Indianapolis (15-4) or No. 7 Southern Indiana (16-10) in the second round. Those matches will take Saturday- Sunday (April 29-30).

All match times will be determined in the upcoming days.
