Bio

Raul Quevedo was named the head coach of the Northwood University tennis programs in the summer of 2023.

"We are thrilled to bring in a coach like Raul to lead our tennis programs," said Northwood University Athletic Director Jeff Curtis. "He has experience in all aspects of tennis and has been a very successful collegiate coach. I am confident he will do an outstanding job leading our teams."

Quevedo comes to Northwood after serving the past year as the head tennis professional at Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. Prior to that, he was the head men's and women's tennis coach at Illinois-Springfield for three seasons where he led the men's team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history in 2021. The women's team made their first Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament appearance in program history in 2019. Both the men's and women's programs earned top-50 national rankings. In his time at UIS, the team had 13 student-athletes earn All-GLIAC and 11 earn GLVC Player of the Week honors. In total, the Prairie Stars posted a 46-31 combined record in his three years as head coach (24-15 men/22-16 women).

A standout as an athlete and as a student, Quevedo earned his undergraduate degree from Young Harris College in Georgia. He is the all-time winningest player in Young Harris history with 115 victories (57 singles, 58 doubles). Quevedo graduated from Young Harris with a degree in business and public policy with a 3.99 grade point average in just 3.5 years. He earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2017 as well as the Peach Belt Conference Elite 15 award, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA in men's tennis.  Quevedo went to earn his Master of Business Administration from Illinois-Springfield with a perfect 4.0 GPA in May of 2020.
