Track Teams Compete At Raleigh Relays
The Northwood University track and field teams opened the outdoor portion of their schedule at the Raleigh Relays Friday and Saturday (March 29-30).
No team scoring was taken at the event, which largely featured athletes from Division I schools. North Carolina State served as host for the meet.
On the women's side, junior Madison Pines got off to a strong start for the outdoor season, earning a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 1,500 meter run. She clocked a 4:33.84 in the event to place 10th overall, trailing only nine Division I athletes. Danielle Miller clocked a 37:17.23 in the second section of the 10,000 to place second. Chloe Theil placed fourth in the fourth section of the 5,000 meter run, clocking an 18:47.94.
On the men's side, Marcus Rogers ran a 4:03.35 to finish 12th in the 1500 meter run. Daniel Capak also earned a 12th place finish with a toss of 172-05 in the hammer throw. Silas DeKalita placed 16th in the 10,000 with a time of 32:14.92.
Northwood will compete at the Spartan Invitational April 6.
