Track & Field Teams Compete At Gina Relays

The Northwood University track and field teams traveled to multiple events this weekend (April 24-26), competing at the 48th Annual Hillsdale College "GINA" Relays and the Ernie Mousseau Track & Field Classic at Aquinas College.

GINA Relays –

Sophomore Silas DeKalita (Clio, Mich.) was the overall winner in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:52.92. Close behind was Marcus Rogers (Howell, Mich. / Pinckney) at 14:53.56 for third place. Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) earned an eighth place finish in the 10,000 meter run, clocking 33:43.42. Senior Madison Pines (Troy, Mich.) was the only female to finish in the top ten for the Timberwolves. Pines posted a 4:32.73 finish in the 1,500 meter run – good for ninth place.

Ernie Mousseau Track & Field Classic –

On the men's side, Korvon Harris (Detroit, Mich. / Northwestern) earned a second place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.95. Kyle Vandersyde (Hopkins, Mich.) placed third in the 110 meter hurdles posting a 15.69, while Ashton McMillan (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) also took third in the triple jump at 12.9 meters. In the 400 meter hurdles, Jordan Fields(Lauderhill, Fla. / Blanche Ely) recorded a 59.07 for fifth and Miguel Prieto (Elwell, Mich. / Alma) took seventh with a time of 1:00.71, while Daniel Saylor, Jr. (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) placed ninth clocking 1:01.82. In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Tom Rowley (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) took seventh with a time of 10:50.52. Payton Coffey (Carleton, Mich. / Carleton Airport) also placed seventh in the high jump with a jump of 1.8 meters. Northwood's relay teams earned a first (41.62) and fourth (42.79) place finish in the 4x100 meter relay. NU also took third in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:24.20.

For the women, Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich.) earned a fourth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.89 meters. Taking seventh in the 200 meter dash, Marsadie Cinato(Warren, Mich. / Woods Tower) clocked a 26.60. Drew Findlay (Reese, Mich.) also placed seventh in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:10.51. In the discus throw, Hunter Perry (Moran, Mich. / Rudyard) threw 42.04 meters – good for seventh place. Chelsea Young (Remus, Mich. / Chippewa Hills) jumped 9.36 meters in the triple jump for eighth place. Northwood's 4x100 meter relay team came in fifth with a time of 50.47.

Northwood will travel to Lake Erie for the GLIAC Championships next weekend (April 30-May 2).
