Outdoor Track and Field Teams Compete In A Pair Of Meets At GVSU

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The track and field teams traveled to Grand Valley State University this weekend to compete in the Second to Last Chance Meet on Friday (May 8) and Last Chance Meet on Saturday (May 9).

No team scoring was taken at either meet, which featured athletes from Northwood, Grand Valley State, Tiffin, Northern Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan, among others.

Wally Clay (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Flint Southwestern) ran 21.72 in the 200 meter dash to finish sixth on Friday, before earning a first place finish on Saturday at 21.95. John King (Mesick, Mich.) took seventh in the 400 clocking 50.08 on Friday. Paul Evans (Lenox, Mich. / New Haven) earned a sixth place finish with a mark of 43.11 meters (141-05) in the discus throw.

On the women's side, Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich.) took third in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.60 meters (18-04.5). Hunter Perry (Moran, Mich. / Rudyard) finished tenth with a discus throw of 42.77 meters (140-04).

Jeremy Wilchcombe (Freeport, Bahamas / St. Georges(NU-TX)) currently ranks ninth in the country in the men's triple jump with his 15.13 meter jump at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships on April 30. He should qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, that meet will take place at Grand Valley State May 21-23.
