Track and Field Earns Four USTFCCCA All-Region Outdoor Honorees

NEW ORLEANS — Multiple Timberwolves on the Northwood University track and field teams have been named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honorees for the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field, which was released on Wednesday (May 18).

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team.

Senior thrower, Hunter Perry (Moran, Mich. / Rudyard)  recorded a personal best and new school record with a discus throw of 47.13 meters (154-7) at GVSU's Last Chance Meet on May 14. Her mark not only surpasses her own school record of 44.47 (145-11) by more than ten feet but also placed her as the 23rd longest throw in the country.

                 

Junior Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich.) won the long jump at 5.87 meters (19-3.25) in the Al Owens Open at Grand Valley State on April 23. Her mark not only broke her own school record of 5.69 meters, but also was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and finished as the 27th longest jump in DII.

                 

Sophomore sprinter, Madison Arnouts (Grand Ledge, Mich.) ran 1:01.28 to finish fourth in the 400 meter hurdles at the 2016 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Ferris State on May 6. Arnouts bettered a 2012 time of 1:01.78 for a new school record in the event and finished with the 30th best time in the nation.

                 

 

On the men's side, senior sprinter Jordan Fields (Lauderhill, Fla. / Blanche Ely) finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with the third best time in school history of 14.58, just shy of the 14.50 NCAA provisional qualifying time.
