Track and Field Teams Open Indoor Season at SVSU Holiday Open

RECAP: The Northwood University track and field teams opened the 2016-17 indoor season at the Saginaw Valley State Holiday Classic Saturday afternoon (December 3).
INSIDE THE MEET
- There was no team scoring in the meet, featuring Saginaw Valley State, Northwood, Siena Heights, Alma, Lake Superior State, Hillsdale, Central Michigan, among others.
- On the men's side, leading the way for the Timberwolves was Kyle Vandersyde winning the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.50.
- Paul Evans finished second overall in the weight throw, registering an NCAA Provisional mark of 58-0.50.
- Cody Patterson was fifth in the weight throw at 54-4.75.
- On the women's side, Kara Young finished second in the 60 meter dash at 7.68, which was good for an NCAA Provisional qualifying time. Young also placed third in the 200 with a time of 25.67.
- Elaina Meadows placed second in the long jump with an NCAA Provisional mark of 18-5. Jsalissa Bridges was fourth in the event at 16-6.
- Carly D'Almeida also posted an NCAA Provisional mark in the weight throw, placing third overall with a toss of 54-8.25.
- Heaven Powell was part of a three-way tie for second in the high jump with a jump of 5-4.25.
UP NEXT
- The Timberwolves will compete at the Oiler Opener Friday and Saturday (December 9-10). The event is being hosted by the University of Findlay.
