Track and Field Athletes Compete At Various Last Chance Meets Over The Weekend

LOCATION: Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Mich. │ North Central College, Naperville, Ill. │ Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Mich. │North Carolina A&T, Greensboro, North Carolina.   

RECAP:  Numerous track and field athletes competed for Northwood at Last Chance Meets across the country on the final weekend before the NCAA National Championships.

INSIDE THE EVENTS

GVSU LAST CHANCE MEET

  • In the men's hammer throw, Cody Patterson registered a mark of 56.21m.
  • In the women's 100 meter dash, Kara Young took home a third place finish with a time of 12.36.
  • In the women's hammer throw, Carly D'Almeida registered a mark of 50.39.

NCC DR. KEELER INVITATIONAL

  • Jennifer Mckenna turned in an impressive performance in the women's 5K run with a time of 4:45.91. This time puts Mckenna at #5 all time in the Northwood record books, just .04 seconds off of #4 all-time and also marks a personal best for the senior by an astonishing one minute and 16 seconds. Mckenna's incredible career at Northwood now includes being top 5 in school history in every event from the 800 to the 5k.
  • Tyler Jensen competed in the men's 1500 meter run for Northwood and turned in a time of 3:57.66. Jensen remains #5 in school history in this event as he narrowly missed moving to #4 all-time.

HILLSDALE COLLEGE LAST CHANCE MEET

  • In the women's 100 meter dash Kara Young finished with a time of 12.62.
  • Elaina Meadows captured a first place finish in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.38 meters.

AGGIE LAST CHANCE MEET

  • In the women's 400 meter hurdles Maddison Arnouts re-broke her own Northwood school record with an impressive time of 60.34. The time also ranks in the top 20 in the nation coming in at #18 overall. Arnouts secured a first place finish for the second consecutive week and has built some fantastic momentum moving into the NCAA Championships.
