Arnouts, Evans, and Gharsalli To Compete at NCAA Division II Outdoor Track National Championships

MIDLAND, MICH. The Northwood University track and field teams will send three student-athletes to the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships. Madison Arnouts, a junior sprinter from Grand Ledge, Michigan, Rami Gharsalli, a sophomore sprinter from Sousse, Tunisia, and Paul Evans, a junior thrower from Lenox, Michigan, will represent the Timberwolves in Bradenton, Florida.

The championships will be held Thursday, May 25th through Saturday, May 25th in Bradenton, Florida at IMG Academy.

Madison Arnouts recently completed back to back record breaking performances for Northwood and will compete in the women's 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships. Arnouts posted a first place finish at the GLIAC Championships two weeks ago with her gold medal time of 60.65. Arnouts was also named first team All-GLIAC in the event. Not to be outdone, Arnouts followed that impressive performance up with a stellar first place finish at the "Aggie Last Chance Meet" at North Carolina A&T. Arnouts broke her own school record with a time of 60.34 and now ranks in the top 20 in the nation at #18.

Rami Gharsalli will represent the Northwood Timberwolves in the 110 meter hurdles event. Gharsalli captured a first place finish in the 110 meter hurdles at the GLIAC championships on May 5th while also earning all-conference honors. Gharsalli was also an all-american performer in the 60 meter hurdles during the indoor season with his second place finish at the NCAA championships back in March.

Paul Evans has had a tremendous outdoor season in his junior campaign in the men's hammer and discus events. A season that has included setting two school records in both the hammer and discus events, earning GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors on April 24th, and a #6 national ranking in the men's discus. Evans is a national qualifier in both the men's hammer and discus events.

The women's 400 meter hurdle event prelims are scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 25th at 8:25 pm. Meanwhile, the men's 110 meter hurdles are slated for 6:55 pm on Friday, May 26th, while the men's hammer throw will take place at 3:30 on Thursday, May 25th, and the men's discus at 5:00 pm on Friday.
