Track & Field Posts Strong Performances At Texas, Bucknell, Oakland

RECAP: An improved NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw by Paul Evans and season best efforts highlights track and field at Texas, Bucknell, and Oakland Friday-Sunday (April 13-15).

TEXAS INVITATIONAL

• Senior Paul Evans has continued his strong senior campaign in the throws. Evans finished seventh in the hammer throw with a new season best throw of 61.17 meters/200 feet-8 inches, improving upon his NCAA provisional qualifying mark and placing among a field that featured all Division I athletes. He now sits seventh on the NCAA Division II qualifying list pending the results from the remainder of the weekend.
• Freshman Mason Phillips recorded an eighth-place finish overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.69 seconds after winning his respective heat.
• In the javelin, junior Ben Quella landed a new personal best with a throw of 53.61 meters/175 feet-11 inches. His new PR improved his mark as the second-best all-time thrower in school history.
• In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Christopher Bent ran a new wind-aided PR of 21.61 seconds…Junior Heaven Powell finished 12^th in the high jump (1.63 meters/5 feet-4.25 inches)…Battling a lengthy lighting delay, senior Carly D'Almeida placed 13^th in the hammer throw (48.92 meters/160 feet-6 inches).

BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC

• Sophomore Trestin Mancillas-Finnerty kicked things off for the distance crew at Bucknell, claiming a second-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:56.50. His three-second PR moves him into fifth all-time in school history.
• Junior Dylan Rocha threw down a 13 second PR and moved himself into second all-time in school history in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:38.66 on day one. Rocha returned to the track on day two for the 3000-meter run for a fourth-place finish overall in 8:52.72, good for his second performance that moved him up in the top two in school history.
• Freshman Brian Patrick claimed a fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter run in 8:54.04 and moves into fourth all-time in school history in 8:54.04.

GOLDEN GRIZZLIES INVITE

• Senior Madison Arnouts won the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 1:03.48 for a seasonal best.
• Junior Riley Johnson threw 31.38 meters in the javelin to earn a sixth-place finish.
