Jeremy Wilk Named Head Track & Field Coach

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University Athletic Department has named Jeremy Wilk head coach of the men's and women's track & field programs.

He replaces Michael Roberts, who recently accepted a coaching position at Army. Wilk has been serving as the head men's and women's cross country coach since the summer of 2019.

"We are very excited to have Jeremy officially take over as our head coach for track & field," said Northwood University Athletic Director Jeff Curtis. "He has done a tremendous job with cross country and the distance events and I know he will do a great job leading the entire program."

Wilk is in his sixth season at Northwood, having arrived in the summer of 2016. On the cross country side, 12 of the best 25 times in the men's 8,000 and nine of the best 25 times in the 10,000 have taken place under Wilk.  For the women's cross country program, four of the top 25 5,000 meter times and three of the top 25 6,000 times have occurred during Wilk's tenure. Both programs have earned United State Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCA) All-Academic honor every year Wilk has been at Northwood. NU also had its first NCAA All-American in program history under Wilk, as Brian Patrick earned the honor in 2018.

In his time coaching the distance runners in track & field, Northwood has placed 34 times on the men's all-time indoor & outdoor performer list. Twenty women's performances under Wilk have made the indoor and outdoor record book. Overall, Northwood distance/mid-distance athletes have broken school records 19 times during Wilk's first five years on staff.

Prior to Northwood, Wilk served as the Assistant Cross Country/ Track & Field coach and the Director of Operations for Ashland University. There, along with Head Cross Country coach Tom Scott, Jeremy mentored and coached the distance and middle distance runners to much success. In 2015, both the Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams ranked in the top 25 for NCAA Division II. The women placed fifth at the GLIAC Championships, their highest placement since 2011.

Wilk is a graduate of Grand Valley State University where he earned his B.B.A. in Finance and Marketing. He began his career as a walk-on and ended it as the school record holder in the outdoor 800m with a time of 1:49.40. At GVSU, he was a two-time All-American and three-time Academic All-American.

"I would like to thank President MacDonald, Jeff Curtis, Dave Marsh, and all of the administration at Northwood for believing in me and affording me this incredible opportunity," said Wilk.  "It is not something I take lightly. I am extremely excited for the opportunity and for the future of our men's and women's track and field/cross country programs. I cannot wait to build on the success that we have achieved under the direction of Coach Roberts."
