Throwers Compete At Andres Family Alumni Open

RECAP: The throwers from the Northwood University track & field programs took part in the Andres Family Alumni Open Friday night (December 10)

INSIDE THE MEET

  • The Powers brothers turned in another strong event, placing first and third in the men's weight throw. Nathan Powers picked up the win with NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 19.43 meters. Dylan Powers earned a personal-best toss of 17.87 meters to finish third overall, which moved him to fourth on the all-time NU list.
  • David Kotliarker picked up a personal-best toss of 16.49 meters in the men's weight throw. That mark is just .01 meters outside of reaching the top-10 in school history.
  • Taky Ezell picked up the victory in the women's weight throw with a toss of 17.54. That mark is a season-best toss and an NCAA provisional qualifier.
  • Jessica Kursinsky earned the win in the women's shot put with a season-best toss of 13.32 meters.
  • One week after breaking a 37-year old record in the shot put, Zechariah Stickler placed second in the event this week with an NCAA provisional toss of 16.40 meters. He threw 17.74 a week ago at GVSU.
  • Will Nemecek finished fourth in the shot at 15.76 meters, while Cody Finney was ninth with a personal-best toss of 13.97 meters
  • Emily Coulter picked up a personal-best toss of 10.01 meters in the shot put.

UP NEXT

  • Northwood will now go on break for the holiday season. They will return to action January 15 at the Bob Eubanks Open, hosted by Grand Valley State University.
