Track & Field Programs Compete At Jet's Pizza Invitational
OVERVIEW
MEET: Jet's Pizza Invitational
LOCATION: University Center, Michigan – Saginaw Valley State University
RECAP: The Northwood Track & Field teams were back in competition this weekend for the Jet's Pizza Invitational host by Saginaw Valley State University Friday & Saturday (January 28-29).
INSIDE THE MEET – MEN
- Zane Aldrich made his indoor track & field debut in the 3,000 a memorable one. He set the school record in the 3,000 by nearly 10 seconds with a time of 8:14.76. It is an NCAA provisional mark and currently places him 11th in Division II.
- Brandon Boyd (8:29.17) and Carson Laney (8:31.22) moved to fourth and fifth, respectively in the 3,000 in program history as well.
- Preston Earl (4:16.93 – fourth), Andrew Wendler (4:17.71 – fifth) each earned top-five finishes and personal-bests in the mile.
- Thomas Heslip picked up a third place finish in the 400 with a time of 51.30.
- Jordan Taiwo competed in first collegiate heptathlon event this weekend, placing fourth overall with 4,015 points.
- Max Lerchen also competed in the heptathlon as well, placing fifth with 3,615 points.
- David Kotliarker set a new personal best in the weight throw at 17.31m that placed him in second. That mark moved him into eighth place in school history.
- Will Nemecek picked up a second place finish in the shot put, tossing 15.63 meters
- Benjamin Beaulieu has set a new PR in the 60m hurdles in his first three collegiate competitions. Beaulieu dropped his time to 8.85, which is good for eighth in school history.
INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN
- Jessica Kursinsky picked up the victory in the shot put with a toss of 13.20 meters
- Isabel Anderson tied for second overall in the high jump, clearing 1.51 meters
- Camara Mackey set a new personal best in the 60m dash at 8.52. Her time was .19 seconds faster than her previous record.
UP NEXT
- Northwood will take part in a pair of events next week, competing at Ashland and Grand Valley State Saturday (February 4).
