Track & Field Has Impressive Showing During SVSU Tune Up

OVERVIEW

MEET: SVSU Tune Up

LOCATION: Saginaw, MI – Saginaw Valley State  

RECAP: The Timberwolves Track & Field teams were back on the track this weekend for the SVSU Tune up meet in Saginaw (February 18). Both teams showed great depth, took home numerous podium finishes, and set new personal bests. Northwood improved 12 different personal records and took home seven first place finishes.

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN

  •  In his first race since December 3, Xzavia Price took gold in the 60m at 6.89 seconds.
  • David Kotliarker got second place in the weight throw with a toss of 17.07m.
  • Benjamin Beaulieu set personal best in both the 60m (7.39) and 60m hurdles (8.81). He took gold in the 60m hurdles. 
  • Jon Kelm got fourth place in the high jump. Kelm cleared 1.83m in his first collegiate action in the event. He also set a personal best in the 200m at 23.53.
  • Will Nemecek stood at the top of the podium in the shot put with a toss of 15.54m. He also got fifth place in the weight throw with a throw of 12.67m in his first attempt in that event.
  • In his first collegiate action in the 300m event, Thomas Heslip took the top spot at 36.56.
  • The Timberwolves earned three of the top eight finishers in the 800m. Preston Earl (1:54.39) set the tone as he ran a personal best and placed second. 
  • Fellow teammates Lucas Woodruff and Chase Clark followed Earl. Woodruff's fourth place finish at 1:57.75 was a personal record. 
  • Chase Clark saw his first action in the 800m on the season end in an eighth place finish at 1:59.34. He added another top-five finish in the mile. Clark placed fourth in the mile at 4:20.41.
  • The Timberwolves also took the top two spots in the 4x400m.

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN

  • NU had five different athletes set personal bests. 
  • Taky Ezell broke her personal record in the weight throw with an 18.93m toss. Her toss cleared the provisional mark and moves her into second place in NU history.
  • Avery Stadt placed fourth in the 800m by setting a new personal best at 2:18.72. Stadt shaved off nearly two seconds to improve her time and move into fourth place in NU history.
  • Isabel Anderson matched her indoor personal best in the high jump at 1.56m. She set the mark at the Mike Lints Alumni Meet on January 22.
  • Jessica Kursinsky took second in the shot put with a throw of 13.37m.
  • Kameron Haag earned a podium finish in the mile by setting a new personal best in her first mile event at 5:25.67.
  • Amanda Kalkman added a top-10 finish to her resume as she set a personal best in the mile at 5:49.79.
  • Emily Coulter set a new personal best in the shot put with a throw of 10.18m.
  • In her first action since the GVSU Holiday Open (December 3), Debra Wallace set her season mark in the 60m at 7.97 seconds.
  • Molly Dickinson finished the 3000m with a personal best 11:26.56 race.
  • Hailey Granata competed in the 300m for the first time, taking second at 47.07 seconds.
  • Kaehla Manly set her season mark in the 400m at 1:06.97.

  •  The Timberwolves Track & Field teams will gear up for the GLIAC Indoor T&F Championships next Saturday, February 26 at GVSU.
