Men's Outdoor Track & Field Picked To Finish Second In Preseason Poll
GLIAC MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD PRESEASON COACH'S POLL
MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's track & field team has been picked to finish second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) by the coaches in its annual preseason poll, the league announced Monday (March 28).
Northwood received 40 points in the poll and one first place vote. Grand Valley State was picked to win the GLIAC with 49 points and nine first place votes, while Davenport was third with 37 points.
The Timberwolves opened the year competing at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open (March 26) and the Raleigh Relays (March 24-26). During the events, Northwood's Zane Aldrich broke his previous school record in the 10k by 24 seconds.
Northwood had two athletes in Stephen Barker and Nathan Powers receive All-America honors during the indoor season. Barker placed fifth in the 800m while Powers took seventh in the weight throw at the NCAA DII Indoor Championships earlier this month (March 11-12).
Northwood is scheduled to compete at the Golden Grizzlies Invite and the Pacesetter Sports Invitational on April 8.
