Haviland Sets Mile Record As Track & Field Tunes Up Before G-MAC Championships

MEET: TUNE-UP
LOCATION: UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH. – SAGINAW VALLEY STATE
RECAP: In the final track & field meet before the G-MAC indoor championships, the Timberwolf track & field teams made one last trip to SVSU to compete at the Tune-Up meet.
INSIDE THE MEET – MEN
- Dillan Haviland (4:03.94 – first) won the men's mile by breaking Northwood's program record by nearly three seconds. Haviland previously set the school record at 4:06.14 during the GVSU Big Meet in February of 2022. His mark cleared the NCAA mark and is now the 14th-best time in DII this season.
- Zechariah Stickler threw his season-best mark in the shot with a 17.43m throw. Stickler cleared the 17m mark and the NCAA provisional mark twice in the process. He now holds the 14th-best throw in DII this season.
- Jon Kelm (6.90m) and Xzavia Price (6.84m) went 1-2 during the long jump. Kelm also cleared 13.24m to win the triple jump.
- Price ran his season-best 6.89 during the 60m finals, taking second, while teammate, Andrew Davis, took fifth at 7.04.
- Davis (22.81) would also place second during the 200m dash.
- Sebastian Tesch (18.39m) and David Kotliarker (17.20m) went 1-2 in the men's weight throw.
- Josh Jones (1:51.49) won the 800m with another NCAA mark.
- Freshmen Blake Vier (8.44 – second) and Matheu Morrison (8.51 – third) set new PRs en route to moving into a tie for fifth and eighth place in the program history books.
- Thomas Heslip represented Northwood during the 300m race finishing in 36.74.
INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN
- Lillian Albaugh won the women's shot put with a 13.24m throw.
- Alexis Kaanta placed second in the triple jump. Kaanta's second attempt was her best mark at 10.18m.
- Vivian Williams ran a new personal record (PR) during the 200m dash. Wiliams would place seventh, finishing in 27.76.
- Molly Kitson qualified for the women's 60m finals, running an 8.35 60m dash during prelims to finish eighth. Kitson would run the 400m race following prelims, placing 10th at 1:03.17. She would go on to place seventh in the 60m finals at 8.44.
- Jenna Gaul qualified for the women's 60m hurdle finals. Gaul ran a 9.79 PR during prelims to qualify for the finals. Gaul would place sixth in the finals with a 10.16 finish. Between the 60m races, Gaul (1:07.49) placed 15th during the 400m race.
