Cross Country Hosts 2015 NU Invite

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University cross country teams host the 2015 Northwood Invite Saturday morning (October 10) at Currie Golf Course.

The men earned a first place finish with 29 points, followed by Saginaw Valley State (45), Lake Superior State (64) and Ferris State (92). Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) led the way for the Timberwolves with a season-best time of 26:18.99 to finish fourth overall. Following close behind were Sammy Tanui (Eldoret, Kenya), Matt Dippel (Kentwood, Mich. / Kentwood) and Tyler Jenson(Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) for seventh [26:37.29], eighth [26:47.34] and ninth [26:53.23] place finishes. Also competing for the Timberwolves were Mike Todd (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant), Josh Plishke, Paul Burke, Caleb BarkerNick Kaufmann (Hemlock, Mich. / Hemlock), Scott Loughlin(Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon), Grant Harris (Sebewaing, Mich. / Unionville-Sebewaing Area) and Christian Deblois. A total of 44 runners took part in the men's collegiate race.

On the women's side, Saginaw Valley State and Lake Superior State tied for first with 42 points each, while Northwood came in third (43). Leading the way for Northwood was senior Jenny Frantz (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) who finished second overall – first of all collegiate runners – with a time of 23:04.72. Jennifer McKenna (Orchard Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) ran 23:45.40 for a sixth place finish and Chloe Thiel (Plainwell, Mich.) finished in ninth place at 24:10.72. Also competing for the Timberwolves were Emily Murdoch (Dewitt, Mich.), Julia Cherwinski (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) and Jacqueline Reneaud (Goodrich, Mich.). A total of 26 runners took part in the women's collegiate race.

NU travels to Brighton, Mich. on October 24 for the GLIAC Championships.
