Cross Country Teams Compete In NCAA Midwest Regionals

EVANSVILLE, IND. – The Northwood University cross country teams traveled to Evansville, Ind. on Saturday morning (November 7) for the 2015 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships, hosted by the University of Southern Indiana and the Evansville Sports Corporation.

The Midwest Region consists of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Great Midwest Athletic Conference and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The women ran a 6K course, while the men's course was a 10K.

The women's race was the opening event of the day, which was won by Grand Valley State with a team score of 45. Northwood finished 22nd overall with 651 points. Jenny Frantz (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) led the way for the Timberwolves with a 74th place finish running 22:50.78.Jennifer Mckenna (Orchard Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Northern) clocked 23:40.57, while Chloe Theil (Plainwell, Mich./Plainwell) ran 23:54.21. Also competing for the Timberwolves were Julia Cherwinski (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage), Emily Murdoch (Dewitt, Mich.) and Jacqueline Reneaud (Goodrich, Mich.)

There were a total of 224 runners and 30 teams in the overall team results in this year's women's Regional Championship.

GVSU also earned the victory on the men's side with a team score of 43. Northwood placed 20th in the men's race with a score of 599. Leading the way for the Timberwolves was Will Moench (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa) with a 96th place finish and a time of 33:19.37. Freshman Josh Plischke () ran 33:41.91, while Sammy Tanui (Eldoret, Kenya) clocked 33:47.31. Also competing for the Timberwolves were Mike Todd (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant), Matt Dippel (Kentwood, Mich. / Kentwood), Tyler Jenson (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) and Caleb Barker.

There were a total of 215 runners and 31 teams in the overall team results in this year's men's Regional Championship.
