Cross Country Teams Open Season At Northwood Invitational
OVERVIEW – NORTHWOOD INVITE
LOCATION: Midland, Mich. – Fisher Family Trails
RECAP: The Northwood University cross country teams opened their 2021 season by hosting the Northwood Invite Saturday (September 7).
INSIDE THE WOMEN'S RACE (5,000 METERS)
- Northwood placed third overall in the women's event with a team score of 59.
- Northern Michigan was first at 21 points, followed by Ashland at 58. Alma (104), Mott CC (133) and Oakland CC (169) also took part.
- A total of 52 runners competed in the race, with Abby Moser of Ashland earning the individual win (18:50.50).
NORTHWOOD RESULTS:
- Kameron Haag – Sixth overall: 19:18.40 (first career race)
- Sarah Zehr – Eighth: 19:23.60 (first career race)
- Avery Stadt – 14th: 20:23.20 (first career race)
- Lainey Veenkant – 22nd: 21:08.20
- Amanda Kalkman – 31st: 23:30.90
INSIDE THE MEN'S RACE (6,000 METERS)
- Northwood earned the team victory with a perfect score of 15, earning the top five finishers overall.
- Ashland was second overall at 47 points, followed by Alma (102), Oakland CC (108) and Mott CC (124)
- A total of 47 runners competed in the race.
