Softball Loses Pair To Ferris State To Finish Regular Season

The Northwood University softball team dropped a pair of games at Ferris State to round out the regular season Sunday afternoon (April 28).  FSU won game one 2-0 before posting a 5-0 win in game two.

Northwood finishes the regular season 28-17 overall, 18-8 in the GLIAC.  Ferris State stands at 28-12 overall, 20-6 in the GLIAC.

The story of the day was FSU senior pitcher Dana Bowler.  Northwood entered the day ranked among the GLIAC leaders in scoring, but were shutout twice by Bowler.  NU had five hits on the day in the two games, all of which were singles.

In game one, Northwood had runners in scoring position in the first two innings of the contest but were unable to score.  The game was scoreless in the sixth inning when the Bulldogs plated two runs to earn the win.  Maddison Sebald (Bay City, Mich./Western) took the loss despite allowing just four hits in six innings of work.

Game two was scoreless into the fourth inning when FSU plated a single run.  The Bulldogs then scored one in the sixth and three more in the seventh to earn the win.

Northwood will be the fourth seed in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament.  They will play fifth-seeded Ohio Dominican to open the event.  The tournament takes place Friday-Sunday (May 3-5).
