Softball Loses Pair In Florida

CLERMONT, FLA. – The Northwood University softball team dropped a pair of games Friday afternoon (March 13). The Timberwolves dropped a 7-1 contest to Lock Haven before falling to Central Missouri 4-3.

Northwood is now 2-11 overall on the year. Lock Haven stands at 3-8, while Central Missouri is 11-5.

In the Lock Haven game, the Lady Eagles broke open a close game in the fourth inning. Lock Haven scored five runs in the fourth to go up 6-0. Northwood scored its lone run of the game in the fifth inning on a Maddison Sebald (Bay City, Mich./Western) RBI double that plated Shelby Tulk (Elk Rapids, Mich.). NU finished the game with nine hits and four walks but left a total of 13 runners on base. Sebald had two hits and an RBI to lead the Northwood offense.

Against Central Missouri, Northwood opened the scoring in the second inning with a pair of runs Tulk got Northwood on the board with an RBI single and later scored on an error.  The Jennies responded with three in the third and one in the fourth, all of which were unearned runs. Northwood got back within one in the sixth on an error by Central Missouri, but got no closer. Both teams finished the game with four hits. Lyndsey Look (Pinconning, Mich.) had two hits, while Riley Ostapowicz (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic) had a hit, two walks and two runs scored.

Northwood will finish their spring trip with a pair of games Saturday (March 14). NU will take on Philadelphia University and Minot State at 5 & 7 p.m.
