Softball Drops Pair At Walsh

CANTON, OHIO – The Northwood University softball team drops a pair of games Saturday afternoon (April 4) at Walsh. The Cavaliers defeated Northwood 5-1 before topping the Timberwolves 2-0.

NU currently stands at 6-17 overall, 3-5 in the GLIAC. Walsh improves to 13-4 on the year, 8-1 in the GLIAC.

In game one, WU jumped out to an early three run lead. Northwood plated a run in the top of the fourth but the Cavaliers responded in the bottom of the inning, taking a 4-1 advantage. After falling behind 5-1, NU wasn't able to close the gap taking the loss. The Timberwolves registered just three hits in the contest. Senior Maddison Sebald (Bay City, Mich. / Bay City Western) had an RBI double.

Northwood wasn't able to generate any offense in the second game, finishing with three hits and leaving just two runners on base. Walsh scored two runners in the second and neither team was able to plate a run for the remainder of the game. Vanessa Ewing (Maybee, Mich. / Dundee) recorded eight strikeouts in the loss.
