SEASON PREVIEW:
After winning her 200th career game last season, head coach Meaggan Pettipiece enters her tenth season at the helm of the Northwood University softball team and looks to capitalize on a combination of senior leadership and newcomer skill to build from last season's 16-25 campaign. Northwood looks to improve upon a 13-13 GLIAC record from a year ago.
Despite graduating an All-GLIAC pitcher in Maddison Sebald, the Timberwolves have multiple threats returning for the 2016 season. Another All-GLIAC pitcher from a year ago, Vanessa Ewing, enters her junior season with a 13-12 record and 3.31 ERA. Also in the circle for NU will be senior Casey Brown, freshman Marissa Tiano and redshirt freshman Maggie Mullen, after sitting out last year due to injury.
The Timberwolves are expected to have a solid defense this season, with veterans returning all across the field. Senior outfielder Jessica Tostrud registered 32 hits a year ago, while junior infielders Andria Gietl and Ashley Lynn look to control the infield. Lynn also finished with a .412 on-base percentage at the plate. Senior catcher Lauren Look looks to command the field from behind the plate. Other returners who will be counted on include third baseman Riley Ostapowicz, shortstop Danielle Bartodziej and junior Hayley D'Avilar in the outfield.
