RECAP: Northwood split a doubleheader for the third straight time Monday (April 3) at Ashland – NU picked up a 4-3 win in game one before AU took game two 7-2.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Northwood took the early lead in the opener, plating a pair in the top of the second on a two-run double by Blake Garner that plated Jennifer Wontorcik and Torriya Gray-Baker.
- Ashland went on top in the third inning, scoring three runs.
- The score remained 3-2 until the final inning, when the Timberwolves put together a rally to earn the win. Sydni Pauley came up with the big hit, a two-run double that scored Meghan Franz and Hayley D'Avilar.
- Two runners got on base for the Eagles in the bottom of the seventh, but Vanessa Ewing got a strikeout to close out the victory.

- Ashland scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to go up 2-0 early.
- Northwood got on the board in the second inning on an RBI single by Courtney Wensley that scored Andria Gietl.
- After Ashland went up 3-1 in the fourth inning, the Timberwolves cut the lead back to one in the bottom of the fifth inning. Pauley registered another run-scoring double, this time plating D'Avilar.
- Ashland broke the game open in the seventh inning, scoring four runs to earn the win.
