RECAP:  Northwood splits with Ashland, winning game one 5-2 before falling in the nightcap 3-1 Friday (April 20) in Tiffin, Ohio.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood got on the board in the opening inning thanks to an Abby Joseph two-run RBI single, plating Sydni Pauley and Tara Gross.
  • The Timberwolves pushed their lead to 3-0 in the second inning when Pauley hit an in-field single and scored Meghan Franz from third.
  • In the third inning with runners on second and third, Danielle Bartodziej's sacrifice fly scored a run, followed by Karli Godlewski's run-scoring double to make it 5-0 in Northwood's favor.
  • A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third gave Ashland its first run of the day. In the seventh, the Eagles hit a run-scoring triple to make it 5-2 Northwood, but that would be the closest the Eagles get.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • The first two innings of the game were quiet, with both Northwood and Ashland registering one hit a piece in the first and second innings.
  • The Timberwolves were the first to break through in the top of the third. With runners on first and second, T. Gross's RBI double down the left field line plated NU's first run.
  • The Eagles gained some life in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run homer for the 5-3 lead.
  • Northwood had the bases loaded in the seventh with two outs, but could not complete the comeback, giving the Eagles the 3-1 win.
