RECAP: Northwood softball takes a pair from Ashland Saturday (April 3), winning by scores of 5-0 and 8-1.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

• Northwood got on the board in the third inning with three runs, starting with an RBI double by Maddie Coulter.
• Jaden Berthume then came home on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
• Tara Gross added an RBI groundout to push the lead to 3-0.
• NU added on in the sixth inning, starting with an RBI from Samantha Slick on an error.
• Karlie Moore added another run on an RBI fielder's choice to push the lead to 5-0.
• That was all that NU starter Shayna Frank, who allowed just one hit while striking out five in the shutout win.

• Northwood opened the scoring in the bottom of the second on the first career home run for Moor.
• AU responded with a home run of their own in the third to tie the score
• Northwood used RBI singles from both Tara and Julia Gross in the bottom of the fourth to go back on top 3-1 in the fourth.
• The Timberwolves broke the game open in the fifth. Tara Gross brought home a pair with an RBI single to make the score 5-1.
• Julia Gross followed with a two-run double that extended the lead to 7-1.
• Grace Dutoi rounded out the scoring with an RBI single that made the final 8-1.
• Hailey Leister earned the win with seven strong innings, allowing one run while striking out four.
