Softball Ends Season With Pair Of Losses At NCAA Regionals

RECAP: Softball sees its season come to an end after drooping a 2-1 contest to Ohio Dominican and a 3-1 game to Hillsdale at the NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament Wednesday afternoon (May 19).

OHIO DOMINICAN HIGHLIGHTS

  • The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when the Timberwolves struck first. NU got a hit and two walks to load the bases. Tara Gross then brought home the first run of the day on an RBI groundout to make the score 1-0.
  • Ohio Dominican responded right away, getting a home run and a pair of doubles to go up 2-1.
  • The Timberwolves had chances through the rest of the game, putting a runner in scoring position in the fifth and getting two runners on in the seventh. But NU was unable to plate the tying run, giving the victory to Ohio Dominican.

HILLSDALE HIGHLIGHTS

  • After finishing the first game of the day with just two hits, the Northwood bats came out much faster in game two. NU put together four hits in the first and scored the first run of the game. Delanie Grundman brought home Julia Gross on an RBI single.
  • Hillsdale got a pair of runs on a two-out double to go on top 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning.
  • The Chargers added one in the third for a 3-1 lead.
  • Northwood had chances but were unable to get their offense going the rest of the game, giving Hillsdale the win.
