RECAP: Northwood took game one behind a Shayna Frank shut out. NU beat the Rock 3-0 in game 1 of the Blue Bridge Battle in Owensboro, Ky. (February 25). In game two against Notre Dame College the bats came alive for the Timberwolves as they drove in 17 runs in the contest. 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS – Slippery Rock

  • Shayna Frank was hot early, striking out five of the first eight Slippery Rock batters. Frank totaled 11 K's while striking out the side twice.
  • Madison Jordan hit an RBI double just inside the right field line to get the scoring Emily Mankel for the game's opening run.
  • Delanie Grundman got a single to right field in the bottom half of the third score Gianna Fantin
  • Fantin reached on an error by the pitcher in the fourth that scored Haley Frank all the way from first.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS – Notre Dame College

  • Northwood wasted no time getting on the board in the second game. The Timberwolves scored on a Delanie Grundman double to left and Brittany Steimel single up the middle, putting NU up 2-0 in the top of the first. 
  • The Falcons added a double in the second that scored one with a second runner getting thrown out on a relay from center field. 
  • The Timberwolves began to start opening the game up in the fourth when Gianna Fantin reached on a single that scored Haley Frank and Alexis Koehler.
  • Emily Mankel finished the inning with a single to left that scored Madelin Skene
  • NDC scored three runs on one hit in the bottom half of the fifth that shorten NU's lead to five (9-4). 
  • Northwood quickly answered back in the top of the sixth with rally of their own to extend their lead to 17-4. The Timberwolves plated eight runs on nine hits in the inning.
