Timberwolves Softball Wins Two In Chicago Versus Parkside

RECAP: Northwood continued their eight-game road trip with two games at Wisconsin- Parkside on Saturday, April 23. The Timberwolves handled the Rangers for the season series sweep. The Timberwolves went 4-0 versus Parkside this season. Northwood has won the last seven matchups dating back to May 1, 2021.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood looked to get the scoring started early putting their first three batters in the first on base. Alexis Koehler walked, Emily Mankel doubled off the left-center wall, and Haley Frank hit an RBI single through the right side, 1-0 NU.
  • With no outs and runners on the corners, the Timberwolves would be turned away from any more scoring in the first.
  • In the fourth, a sac fly by Gabby Schloop would score one, followed by two RBI singles by Alexis Koehler and Delanie Grundman that would add to the Northwood lead, 4-0 NU.
  • The Rangers would score one in the fourth via a sac fly to, 4-1 NU.
  • Northwood would get their offense going in the fifth. Madison Jordan's triple off the centerfield wall allowed Karlie Moore to score from first, 5-1 NU.
  • Jordan would score off a rocket double to left by Gabby Schloop, 6-1 NU.
  • A single and stolen base later, Schloop would be on third and Koehler on second. Mankel would single up the middle to score both, 8-1 NU.
  • Parkside would cut into the deficit to make it 8-4 in the sixth behind three hits and a walk. Two of the Parkside hits were doubles to score three.
  • Hailey Leister would nail it down in the seventh to give the Timberwolves the win.

  • The Rangers would respond in the fifth with a two-run home run to left.
  • Alyssa Gibson's single up the middle in the sixth would help the Timberwolves extend their lead to 5-2, scoring pinch-runner Krista Moe.
  • Parkside managed to scratch one across in the seventh with bases loaded via a hit by pitch. Hailey leister bore down to strike out two of the final three batters, 5-3 NU.
