Softball Stays Steady At Eighth In Latest Midwest Regional Rankings

MIDLAND, MI - For the second week in a row, Northwood softball appeared in the NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings. The Timberwolves (29-14, 15-10) stayed ranked No. 8 in Midwest as of May 4, when regional rankings were released.

The University of Indianapolis ranks as the top team, followed by Grand Valley in second. Northwood stands before two other Michigan schools rounding out the top-10, including Hillsdale at No. 9 and Saginaw Valley at No.10.

The region's top eight teams will be paired off into two double-elimination tournaments, held on campus sites May 12-14. The winners of two sub-brackets will advance to face off in a best-of-three Super Regional on May 19-20 to determine the Midwest's representative at the 2022 NCAA Softball Championships, held in Denver on May 26-30.

Northwood is set to begin GLIAC tournament play this Friday (May 6). in Sandusky, Ohio, versus Purdue Northwest at 10 AM.

The NCAA selection show is on May 9 at 10 AM ET, when official rankings get revealed.
