Northwood Softball Appears At No. 10 In Initial Midwest Regional Rankings
FULL DIVISION II SOFTBALL REGIONAL RANKINGS
MIDLAND, MICH. - In the initial NCAA Midwest regional rankings, the Northwood Timberwolves softball team appeared at No. 10. The Timberwolves (29-20, 12-8 G-MAC) are one of three Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) in the rankings.
Overall, Indianapolis (45-4) came in as the No.1 seed, followed by Grand Valley St. (35-3), No. 2, and Saginaw Valley St. (29-12), No. 3. Other G-MAC members in the rankings include No. 5 Ohio Dominican (31-16) and No. 8 Trevecca Nazarene (31-13).
The region's top eight teams will be paired off into two double-elimination tournaments, held on campus sites May 11-13. The winners of two sub-brackets will advance to face off in a best-of-three Super Regional May 18-19 to determine the Midwest's representative at the 2022 NCAA Softball Championships, held in Chattanooga, Tenn. on May 25-31.
At the time that rankings were made, the Timberwolves sat at 29-20 overall and 26-17 against Midwest regional opponents.
Northwood is set to host their final two doubleheaders of the regular season this Friday (April 28) versus Walsh and Saturday (April 29) versus Findlay with a chance to clinch a spot in the G-MAC softball tournament.
Games versus currently eighth-place Walsh (18-18, 12-10 G-MAC) on Friday begin at 3 & 5 p.m. at Fisher Stadium.
The NCAA selection show is set for May 8 at 10 a.m. ET.
