Cox Named To The 2024 Tucci/ NFCA DII Pitcher Of The Year Watchlist

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Northwood softball pitcher Emily Cox was named to the 2024 Tucci/ National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) DII Player & Pitcher of the Year watchlist released Thursday (March 28). Cox, along with 119 student-athletes from across the country were named on the watchlist. 

The list is broken down into the eight NCAA Regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West) with up to 15 student-athletes represented in each region. The list is compiled by the elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee with one head coach representing each of the eight NCAA regions. To be eligible, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member.

Cox has had a breakout senior season for the Timberwolves. She currently leads the team in wins (9 – third in the G-MAC), innings pitched (68), strikeouts (67), and earned run average (1.03 – second in the G-MAC). Her consistency also has managed two saves which is second in the G-MAC this season.

Northwood softball is currently 20-9 on the season and is set to host a 12-game homestand beginning with a doubleheader versus Trevecca Nazarene this Friday (March 29) starting at 1 p.m.

Voted on by the NFCA's Division II All-American Committee, the 2024 Tucci/NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year Award will be announced on May 27 following the conclusion of the NCAA Division II National Championships.
