Women's Basketball Defeats Ohio Dominican 81-75

MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood University women's basketball team defeats Ohio Dominican 81-75

The Timberwolves improve to 10-4 on the season, 6-2 in the GLIAC. Northwood has now won seven of their last eight games. Ohio Dominican drops to 4-10 on the year, 1-7 in the GLIAC.

After going back and forth for the opening five minutes, the game was locked at 12 with 13:50 to go. The Panthers took advantage and never looked back, taking a 44-38 lead into the locker room after having led by as many as 11. The Panthers shot 52.2 percent from the floor and 19-20 from the free throw line for 95.0 percent. Northwood's Lauren Robak (Clarkston, Mich. / Our Lady of the Lakes) registered 16 first half points.

The Timberwolves came out of the locker room on fire, scoring the next 12 points to take the lead 50-46 just before the first media timeout. The game was then tied for the fifth time at 54 with 11:54 on the clock, before NU went on another run. With some impressive defense, Northwood scored 16 of the next 18 points to take a 70-56 advantage at 7:43. The Panthers fought back to cut the lead to three (78-75) with just over a minute to go but would not get any closer. NU held ODU to just 29.0 percent from the floor in the closing period.

For the game, Northwood finished shooting 26-65 from the floor for 40.0 percent while Ohio Dominican shot 38.9 percent (21-54) from the floor. Both teams combined to shoot 53-58 from the free throw line (NU: 21-23, ODU: 32-35) for 91.4 percent.

Four Timberwolves finished in double figures, led by Robak who registered a game-high 26 points. Sarah Susan (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Byron Center), Gabrielle Rivette (Fenton, Mich.) and Emily Kutch (Freeport, Mich. / Lakewood) each added 11 points. Kaitlin Susan (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Byron Center) grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to go with eight points and two blocks.
