Women's Basketball Falls to Michigan Tech 90-69

MIDLAND, MI – The Northwood University women's basketball team dropped a 90-69 contest to Michigan Tech Thursday night (January 28).

Northwood is now 10-9 overall, 6-7 in the GLIAC. MTU improves to 12-5 overall, 10-3 in the GLIAC to lead the North Division.

The Timberwolves took a 13-12 lead in the opening quarter, but Michigan Tech took control the rest of the quarter. MTU ended up with a 25-16 lead after one, thanks to shooting 60.0 percent from the floor in the opening quarter (9-15).

MTU made six of their first seven shots in the second quarter, the Huskies carried a lead as large as 19. Northwood fought back down the stretch cut the lead to 46-32 through 20 minutes.

The third stanza was much of the same at Riepma Arena. The Huskies led by as much as 31 mid-way through the final period of regulation as the visitors handled Jeff Curtis's crew, 90-69.

For the game, The Huskies shot 57.1% from the field (32-56), including 50% from three-point land (12-24). Northwood ended up at 42.4% overall (25-59) and 43% from behind the arc (3-7).

Maddy Seeley (Alma, Mich.) led Northwood with 16 points in the game. Junior Jordyn Nurenberg (St. Johns, Mich.), registered 13 points and seven rebounds, while Lauren Robak (Clarkston, Mich.) had 11.

The Timberwolves will return to action Saturday (January 30) for a game against Northern Michigan. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
