Women's Basketball Loses At SVSU 63-40 In GLIAC Quarterfinals

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH. – The Northwood University women's basketball team saw its 2015-16 season come to an end with a 63-40 loss to Saginaw Valley State Tuesday night (March 1).

Northwood, which was the No. 7 seed in the event, finishes the year 17-12 overall. SVSU, the No. 2 seed, improves to 21-7 win the win.

The Timberwolves offense struggled throughout the night, finishing with season-lows in points (40), field goal percentage (24.2 percent) and field goals (15). Northwood trailed by just five after one quarter (18-13), but were out-scored 33-15 in the second and third to trail 51-28 heading to the fourth. SVSU led by as many as 33 early in the fourth before earning a 23-point win.

Delaney Kenny (Clarkston, Mich.) led Northwood with 10 points. Jordyn Nurenberg (St. Johns, Mich.) had seven points, five rebounds and four blocks. Lauren Robak (Clarkston, Mich./Our Lady of the Lakes) finished her career with 1,456 points, which is good for a tie for second place in Northwood history with Jodi Ostergren.

Northwood will lose three seniors from this year's team: Robak, Taylor Roe (Portland, Mich.) and Sarah Trierweiler (Portland, Mich.).
