Women's Basketball Defeats Wayne State 64-56 In GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals
OVERVIEW – WAYNE STATE - GLIAC TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS
SCORE: Northwood Timberwolves 64, Wayne State Warriors 56

RECAP: Fifth-seeded Northwood uses a strong fourth quarter to earn a 64-56 road win over fourth-seeded Wayne State Wednesday night (February 28).
FIRST QUARTER
- The start of the game was low scoring – Northwood led 8-6 five minutes into the contest.
- WSU's offense finished the first quarter strong, scoring 15 points in the final 3:36 to earn a 21-16 advantage after one.
- Northwood finished the first quarter at 40.0 percent (6-15), compared to Wayne State at 38.9 percent (7-18).
SECOND QUARTER
- The Warriors pushed the lead to seven (25-18) early in the second quarter, but Northwood chipped away at the lead the remainder of the half.
- Northwood scored 10 of the next 12 points to go up 28-27 before WSU took a 29-28 advantage to the break.
- Neither team shot well in the second quarter – NU went 3-13 (23.1 percent) while WS finished 3-15 (20.0 percent).
- The Timberwolves out-scored the Warriors 12-8 in the quarter thanks to going 5-6 from the foul line (83.3 percent).
THIRD QUARTER
- Wayne State came out fast in the third, getting the lead up to 34-28 a minute in.
- The Warriors got the advantage all the way to nine (41-32) with less than 3:30 remaining in the quarter when NU finished the frame strong.
- NU got the lead down to three (42-39) before the Warriors ended up with a 45-41 lead heading to the fourth.
- Both teams had similar shooting numbers in the quarter: NU went 6-16 (37.5 percent) while WS was 5-13 (38.5 percent).
- Wayne State out-scored Northwood 4-0 from the foul line in the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Senior Maddy Seeley scored six points in Northwood's first two possessions of the fourth quarter to set the stage for a big fourth for the Timberwolves.
- After going 4-22 from 3-point range over the first three quarter, Northwood went 4-6 from beyond the arc in the fourth.
- Three Taylor Craymer triples in less than two minutes were the biggest shots of the contest, taking a two-point deficit and turning it into a 58-53 lead.
- Northwood kept the momentum going through the rest of the game, closing out the contest with an eight-point victory.
- The Timberwolves put up 23 points in the fourth quarter, thanks to going 7-14 overall (50.0 percent) while making 66.7 percent from beyond the arc
- The Warriors went 4-18 from the floor in the quarter (22.2 percent) while going 1-11 from 3-point range (9.1 percent).

NORTHWOOD NOTES
- Wayne State won both of the regular season meetings between the two teams (59-57, 76-66).
- This is the second time in program history Northwood has won a GLIAC Tournament game. NU's last win in the GLIAC Tourney came March 2, 2011 (NU 63, Grand Valley State 39).
