Lindsay Orwat & Maddy Seeley Earn All-GLIAC Honors

2017-18 All-GLIAC Teams

ASHLAND, OHIO – The Northwood University women's basketball team placed a pair of student-athletes on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams, the league announced Friday (March 2).

The teams were announced at the banquet held prior to the GLIAC Tournament semifinals, which are being hosted by Ashland University.

Senior guard Lindsay Orwat (Grand Ledge, Mich./Oakland University) was named First Team All-GLIAC, while fellow senior guard Maddy Seeley (Alma, Mich.) earned Second Team honors.

Orwat has turned in her finest collegiate season at Northwood this year, ranking third in the GLIAC in scoring at 17.4 points per game. She also ranks fourth in the league in 3-point percentage (41.4 percent) while standing second in free throws made (104) and third in 3-point field goals made (60).  Her 470 points scored this season are the second most in a year in program history. She also stands fifth in school history with 60 3-point field goals made. Orwat scored a career-high 36 points at Bellarmine earlier this season, which is the second-highest individual scoring game in program history.

Seeley has been one of Northwood's top performers in each of the last four years, averaging at least 10 points per game every season. This year, she currently stands sixth in the GLIAC in scoring at 14.3 points per game. Seeley ranks third in the GLIAC in free throw percentage (86.5 percent) and fifth in 3-point field goals made (59). For her career, Seeley ranks eighth in school history with 1,354 points, second in 3-point field goals made (201) and ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (.341). Her free throw percentage this year is the seventh best in school history, while her 3-point field goal total is the eighth best in a year at Northwood.

Northwood is 17-10 overall and has reached the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals for the second time in program history.  The Timberwolves will take on No. 1 Ashland Saturday (March 3) at 2 p.m.
