Women's Basketball Drops Season Opener At Findlay 71-61

FIRST QUARTER
- The opening quarter was close throughout, with the biggest lead for either team standing at five points.
- Findlay eventually took a 14-11 lead after one quarter.
- Both teams went 4-14 from the floor in the opening quarter. The Oilers earned the lead by making four more free throws than the Timberwolves (5-1).
SECOND QUARTER
- Findlay extended their lead to seven at 28-21 midway through the second, which was the biggest lead of the opening half.
- Northwood finished strong, cutting the lead to 36-35 at halftime.
- Both teams picked up their game offensively in the second – NU shot 50.0 percent (9-18) while UF finished at 46.2 percent (6-13).
THIRD QUARTER
- The third quarter proved to be the key part of the game.
- The Oilers scored 16 of the first 21 points to open up a 52-40 edge.
- Findlay led by as many as 13 before taking a 58-48 lead to the fourth.
- Northwood went 4-16 from the floor in the third (25.0 percent).
- The shooting numbers reflected UF's advantage in the quarter: Findlay shot 53.8 percent from the floor (7-13) compared to Northwood at 28.6 percent (4-14).
FOURTH QUARTER
- Northwood cut the lead to five early in the fourth quarter and had chances to make it a one possession game but were unable to get closer.
- Findlay's largest lead of the fourth was 13 before taking the game 71-61.
- Northwood shot 35.7 percent (5-14) in the fourth while Findlay finished the final quarter at 33.3 percent (4-12).
