Women's Basketball Opens Season With 84-74 Win Over Findlay

RECAP: Women's Basketball opens the Autumn Haggadone era with an 84-74 win over Findlay Friday (November 12).
FIRST QUARTER
- Both offenses had strong opening quarters.
- NU led by as many as seven before Findlay cut the lead to 22-20 after one.
- Northwood ended the opening quarter shooting 44.4 percent overall (8-18) while going 3-10 from 3-point range (30.0 percent).
- Findlay was 9-17 from the floor in the first (52.9 percent) while making 2-3 from beyond the 3-point arc (66.7 percent).
SECOND QUARTER
- Northwood trailed 31-29 with 6:32 remaining when the Timberwolves finished the half strong.
- NU went on a 14-3 run and eventually finished with a 43-35 lead at halftime.
- The Timberwolves fell back to 33.3 percent (6-18) from the floor and from 3-point range in the second (3-9).
- Findlay was 6-12 from the floor in the second (50.0 percent).
THIRD QUARTER
- The Timberwolves pushed their lead to 10 on two occasions early in the second half, but Findlay made a late push.
- UF used a 19-6 run to take a 61-58 lead late in the third.
- NU responded with a strong finish, scoring the final seven points to take a 65-61 lead heading to the fourth.
- Both teams had strong shooting quarters in the third – NU was 9-18 overall (50.0 percent) and 4-8 from 3-point range (50.0 percent).
- Findlay jumped up to 64.3 percent (9-14) and was 3-5 from three (60.0 percent).
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Oilers got within two early in the fourth, but that is as close as Findlay would get.
- The lead stayed above six over the final 3:03 of the game.
- Northwood led by as many as 12 before earning the 10 point victory.
- NU was 5-14 from the floor in the fourth, good for 35.7 percent. NU went 2-5 from 3-point range and made seven free throws in the final quarter.
- Findlay fell back to 23.5 percent from the floor in the fourth (4-17), missing all five of their 3-point attempts.
