Women's Basketball Defeats Southern Nazarene 79-62

RECAP: Women's Basketball improves to 4-0 on the season with a 79-62 win over previously unbeaten Southern Nazarene Thursday night (November 25).
FIRST QUARTER
- NU used a late run in the first quarter to take the lead, putting up 10 straight points to turn a two point deficit into an 18-10 lead.
- The Timberwolves lead stood at 18-12 after one quarter.
- Both teams struggled from the floor in the opening quarter – Northwood ended at 31.8 percent overall (7-22) and 12.5 percent from 3-point range (1-8).
- Southern Nazarene was 4-14 from the floor (28.6 percent) and 2-6 from 3-point range
SECOND QUARTER
- The Crimson Storm went on a run of their own immediately after the Timberwolves, scoring nine straight to go up 19-18.
- NU responded with their best basketball of the day, scoring 19 of the next 24 points to push their lead to 37-24.
- Northwood's lead eventually stood at 40-32 at the break.
- After both teams struggled in the first, both had efficient second quarters. Northwood went 7-11 from the floor (63.6 percent) and 7-7 from the foul line.
- Southern Nazarene ended the second at 50.0 percent (7-14) while going 4-6 from the foul line.
THIRD QUARTER
- SNU got the lead down to five on two separate occasions in the third, but that is as close as they would get in the second half.
- NU led by as many as 14 late in the quarter, but a banked in 3-pointer by the Crimson Storm at the buzzer made the score 60-51 heading to the fourth.
- The two teams had nearly identical shooting numbers in the third – Northwood finished at 42.9 percent (6-14) overall, while Southern Nazarene ended at 43.9 percent (7-16).
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Timberwolves came out strong to start the fourth, scoring the first 10 points to get their advantage to the biggest of the game at 70-51.
- SNU got no closer than 13 the rest of the game.
- NU was 7-18 from the floor in the fourth, good for a 38.9 percent mark.
- The Crimson Storm was 5-14 overall (35.7 percent).
