FIRST QUARTER

  • Northwood got off to a strong start in the game, leading 13-5 with 5:30 remaining in the opening quarter.
  • NMU controlled the rest of the first quarter, scoring 16 of the final 22 points to lead 21-19 at the end of one.
  • Northwood finished the first quarter at 43.8 percent overall (7-16) but had a big quarter from 3-point range, making five of their 10 attempts (50.0 percent).
  • Northern Michigan went 8-15 from the floor in the first (53.3 percent) while making two 3-pointers and going 3-3 from the foul line.    

SECOND QUARTER

  • The game was tied 28-28 when NMU made a final push to earn the lead at the break.
  • The Wildcats scored 12 of the final 18 points of the half to take a 40-34 lead at the break.
  • NU had a higher overall field goal percentage in the second than NMU, as the Timberwolves finished at 46.7 percent (7-15)  compared to the Wildcats at 43.8 percent (7-16).
  • Northern Michigan held the advantage in the quarter thanks to the 3-point line, where they out-scored Northwood 12-3.

THIRD QUARTER

  • NMU made a key push early in the third quarter, getting their lead up to as many as 13 at 50-37.
  • NU got the lead down to seven at one point before the Wildcats held a 55-45 lead heading to the fourth.
  • Northwood fell back to 26.7 percent from the floor in the third, making 4-15 overall.
  • The Wildcats ended the third at 46.2 percent (6-13).

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Northwood started the fourth quarter fast, scoring eight of the first nine points to get within four at 57-53.
  • That is as close as the Timberwolves would get, however, as the Wildcats would lead by at least five over the final 7:14 of the game.
  • Northwood jumped up to 57.1 percent in the final quarter (8-14) while making 2-4 from 3-point range.
  • Northern Michigan was even better than the Timberwolves in the final quarter, going 8-12 overall (66.7 percent) and 2-3 from 3-point range.
