Women's Basketball Drops 80-72 Contest At Saginaw Valley

FIRST QUARTER
- Saginaw Valley rode a hot-shooting opening quarter to take the early lead.
- The Cardinals made their first six field goal attempts of the game to take the lead.
- SVSU's 23-12 lead at the end of one was their biggest of the opening quarter.
- Northwood ended the quarter making 4-11 field goal attempts (36.4 percent). The Timberwolves were 1-6 from 3-point range and 3-4 from the foul line.
- Saginaw Valley shot 64.3 percent (9-14) in the first while making 3-6 from 3-point range and 2-2 from the free throw line.
SECOND QUARTER
- Saginaw Valley continued to maintain control midway through the second quarter, opening up their lead to 32-14.
- The Timberwolves finished the quarter strong, out-scoring the Cardinals 16-8 the rest of the way to cut the SVSU lead to 40-30 at the break.
- NU went 6-16 from the floor in the second, good for 37.5 percent. The Timberwolves were 2-8 from beyond the 3-point arc and 4-5 from the foul line.
- Saginaw Valley was 5-11 from the floor (45.5 percent) in the quarter. The Cardinals were 1-4 from 3-point range and 6-6 from the foul line.
THIRD QUARTER
- Northwood kept the momentum from the end of the second into the third.
- The Timberwolves got back within one late in the quarter before SVSU held a 56-54 lead heading to the fourth.
- Northwood jumped up to 50.0 percent from the floor (7-14) in the third. The Timberwolves also made three triples and was 7-7 from the foul line.
- Saginaw Valley fell back to 33.3 percent in the third quarter (5-15), missing all seven of their 3-point attempts. SVSU was 6-8 from the foul line.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Northwood stayed close with the Cardinals in the fourth but were unable to take the lead.
- NU trailed 74-72 with less than a minute remaining when SVSU scored six straight points to put the game away.
- Saginaw Valley's shooting in the fourth was the difference, going 9-12 from the floor (75.0 percent). The Cardinals made 5-6 at the foul line and 1-2 from 3-point range.
- Northwood went 7-16 from the floor in the fourth (43.8 percent). NU was 1-5 from beyond the arc and 3-3 from the foul line.
